Supporting children and adults born with congenital heart defects across Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, Children’s Heart Surgery Fund have gone green with their waste by working with B&M Waste Services.
As B&M Waste Services’ nominated charity for the last 2 years, Children’s Heart Surgery fund have not only introduced recycling of all paper and card items, by using Carbon Neutral B&M Waste Services, none of the remaining waste goes to landfill. Instead, it is processed as Refuse Derived Fuel to generate green energy at a combined heat and power facility.
Most recently the charity have commenced a paper shredding service with B&M Secure Shredding to ensure all confidential information about staff and the families they support are firstly shredded by B&M, then 100% recycled. This acts as part of the charities’ compliance ahead of the new GDPR regulations, which tasks businesses with ensuring they manage personal information about people in a secure manner.
Paul Hoddy, from B&M Waste Services, said “We are proud to support Children’s Heart Surgery Fund as our nominated charity. They do fantastic work in taking care of families across Leeds and beyond. They are also committed to looking after the environment, and using our service means 100% of their waste is diverted from landfill. What’s more, the secure shredding service gives them peace of mind in knowing their paperwork won’t fall into the wrong hands. We wish them a successful move into their new premises and will continue to support them in all they’re doing.”
