Diane Modahl Sports Foundation and Manchester City Council announces 4th bi-annual City of Champions Gala Dinner

The Diane Modahl Sports Foundation and Manchester City Council City is proud to announce the City of Champions Gala Dinner 2018. The 4th bi-annual gala event will be hosted at the at the Midland Hotel Manchester on 1st November 2018.

This invitation-only event will celebrate and recognise the successes of individuals who have made a significant contribution to the city of Manchester, as well as demonstrated the values and drive that can inspire and develop young people through sport.

The inaugural City of Champions Dinner, hosted in September 2013, honoured one of Britain’s most decorated Olympic cyclist of all time, Sir Chris Hoy – success enabled by the world-class facility of the Manchester Velodrome.  In 2014 the gala dinner recognised two individuals who have made a significant contribution to the city – Downtown friendS, former Manchester City Council CEO Sir Howard Bernstein and Manchester City Council Leader Sir Richard Leese along with Manchester United football legend Rio Ferdinand and a Special Recognition was made to former MCFC footballer Mike Summerbee. In the year of the 2016 double Olympic Games gold medalist Dame Kelly Holmes DBE accepted our invitation and was inducted alongside Tracey Neville MBE England National Netball Head Coach, 2002 Commonwealth Games representative and 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medalist.
