This week Downtown in Business is spotlighting Mansell Building Solutions following the opening of its new headquarters and the launch of Greater Manchester’s first dedicated MMC Centre in Oldham.
Established in 1991, Mansell Building Solutions is a specialist manufacturer of panelised light gauge steel frame systems, delivering homes and living spaces across the residential, care, student and education sectors. Since 2018 the business has helped create more than 5,500 homes across the North, with over 65% of its work coming from repeat clients.
Mansell’s move to a new 45,000 sq ft facility at Broadway Business Park marks a major milestone for the company and for modern methods of construction in the city region. The new headquarters is 50% larger than its previous site and significantly increases local manufacturing capacity, supporting faster, safer and more certain housing delivery.
A key feature of the new site is the MMC Centre, a full scale, life size prototype that allows councils, developers, architects and contractors to see how factory first construction works in practice. By enabling early design led collaboration, the Centre is designed to reduce risk, improve build quality and accelerate delivery before projects reach site.
The opening was marked by a visit from Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham and GMCA’s Head of Housing Growth and Net Zero, underlining the important role that factory based construction can play in meeting housing demand while creating skilled local jobs and reducing carbon and waste.
As the only MMC manufacturer based in Greater Manchester, Mansell Building Solutions’ expansion positions Oldham as a growing hub for industrialised housing delivery and reinforces the region’s ability to deliver high quality homes at scale.
