Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor of Liverpool City Region is encouraging Digital, Creative and Technology (DCT) business leaders to enroll in the next wave of support programme: Mettle.

The support is fully funded as part of the Metro Mayor’s Business Growth Package, elements of which are being redirected to support the local business community to recover from the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mettle is designed to help one of the region’s key growth sectors to navigate the unprecedented shock to the local economy caused by the pandemic – providing access to industry experts and arming them with the practical strategies and tools they need to boost resilience in challenging times.

Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor of Liverpool City Region, said, “Mettle is one of the ways we’re looking to support businesses to sustain operations during the recovery period. By connecting local business leaders with each other, and with experts who can provide a listening ear as well as practical guidance, we hope to build a resilient local business community that can weather not only this storm, but those they may be faced with at any point in the future too.”

Mettle is part of a suite of services that will be delivered by Gather, an initiative that aims to support and connect business leaders, many of whom will be facing similar challenges as the local economy responds to the global pandemic. It currently offers one-to-one advice from expert consultants and a six-week online course designed to help businesses survive the impact, stabilise their business and grow sustainably. The intention is for the business support services it offers to grow, with future programmes being launched later this year.

Over 40 of the region’s most exciting DCT businesses have already enrolled on Mettle, with ambitious leaders from companies such as InnovateHerEveryman TheatreTickr and Uniform all taking part.

Gavin Sherratt from Mashbo said: “During a crisis, it’s hard to know where to start whilst you’re trying to keep everything afloat. Mettle has given me the clarity I needed on what to focus on.”

Mettle has been designed to fit even the busiest of schedules, providing the maximum value possible in just two hours a week, for the duration of the six week course.

Applications for the next intake close on Friday 5th June. To find out more information and to apply for free, visit the Gather LCR website.
