Conference tackles IT issues at iconic sporting venue

An iconic new venue will hold its inaugural business event in May when Boston Spa-based Deans Computer Services (DCS) becomes the first company to host a conference in Emerald Headingley Stadium’s brand new Emerald Suite.

Located in the new multi-million-pound North Stand, with panoramic views of the Yorkshire County Cricket Club ground and the Leeds Rhinos rugby ground, the world-class facilities were chosen by DCS for its annual Spring Showcase, offering a free-to-attend programme of expert masterclasses tackling a range of IT topics. Taking place on 21st May, the event will also feature a wide range of exhibitors, including major hardware and software suppliers from across the UK and abroad.

DCS chairman, Peter Rogerson, said:

“DCS are very excited to be kicking off the latest edition of our annual conference in the only conference suite in the world that overlooks two international stadia. The stunning setting will bring an extra dimension to our event. Our involvement in the inauguration of this Headingley venue has a fitting symmetry with a milestone occasion 22 years ago – in April 1997, our current headquarters at Boston Lodge were officially opened by Leeds Rhinos CEO Gary Hetherington and Head Coach Dean Bell.

“DCS have a number of other connections with this famous place – we wrote the software for Headingley’s original ticketing system back in 1987 and the current system is now provided by one of our exhibitors, Advanced Computer Software. The new facilities at Emerald Headingley Stadium were built by Caddick Construction, a DCS client since 2005, and we are very impressed with their work here. It’s an outstanding achievement and a credit to all involved in the project.”

DCS marketing director, Suzie Cowling, said:

“Our Spring Showcase gets bigger each time we host it. Last year’s conference enjoyed a record attendance and, given the quality of our line-up and the prestige of the venue, I’m confident that this year’s event will break the record again. Companies of all sizes are invited to contact DCS to register their interest.

“The Spring Showcase will include keynote presentations from leading experts on cyber security, cloud systems, warehouse management, enterprise resource planning and attendance solutions. Google will be presenting a session on ‘How to Get Your Business Visible’ aimed at SMEs. DCS will also be providing a Proof of Concept Lab with a replication of virtual servers creating a live demonstration of its Amber Vault Cloud Backup solution.”
