Tri-maker Triathlon volunteers make a welcome return to Well Met

The AJ Bell World Triathlon Leeds 2019 makes a welcome return to Leeds for a fourth time on 8 and 9 June 2019.

The AJ Bell World Triathlon Leeds 2019 makes a welcome return to Leeds for a fourth time on 8 and 9 June 2019. Well Met, the conferencing office of Leeds Beckett University, is once again, proud to host the army of Tri-maker volunteers at its city campus Rose Bowl building throughout the weekend.

Organisers expect a repeat of last year’s event which saw around 4,000 amateur triathletes compete on the same course as the world’s elite triathletes. More than 70,000 spectators lined the city’s streets in 2018 with over 400 volunteers operating as tri-makers, giving up their time to help deliver the best and smoothest experience for those involved.

Volunteers play a crucial role in the delivery of exceptional events and are the friendly faces of the city, guiding the crowd and keeping spectators out of harms’ way. The Rose Bowl provides a great city-centre location for them to meet, collect their kit and instructions, pick up any last-minute training talks and find out about what to expect in the days ahead.

Clare Vidler, Conference Manager at Well Met, said: “We love hosting the Tri-makers for the AJ Bell World Triathlon series. There is always such a great atmosphere and a real buzz about the place. Leeds Beckett University is one of the main sponsors and there is a lot of anticipation on campus in the run-up to the weekend. We are very proud to have an association with such a key event for the city and the team are really looking forward to its return.”

The AJ Bell World Triathlon Leeds 2019 is organised exclusively by British Triathlon in partnership with Triathlon England, Leeds City Council, UK Sport and the ITU. The 70,000 spectators expected to attend the ITU World Triathlon Leeds across the weekend will see both amateurs and elite athletes – including many of Team GB’s aspiring Tokyo 2020 Olympians – competing in what is anticipated to be an unforgettable event in the triathlon calendar.

Wayne Coyle, AJ Bell World Triathlon Leeds 2019 Event Director, added: “I would like to extend a huge thank you to all the volunteers and officials for their support and commitment in ensuring 2019 delivers another great athlete experience. Once again, we aim to deliver an event to be proud of and, with the support of Well Met, our fantastic volunteers will be well looked after so we can ensure they’re on hand to help both participants and spectators; every step of their AJ Bell World Triathlon Leeds journey.”
