Pharmacy donates hand sanitiser to all Trust staff

A Preston-based family owned and run pharmacy chain has donated a shipment of 10,000 mini bottles of hand sanitiser to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity for distribution across its Royal Preston and Chorley and South Ribble Hospital sites.

Of the consignment gifted by Walton Summit headquartered Pharmalogic, which is for staff’s personal use outside of work, 4,000 bottles will go into NHS Heroes Care Packs, which the charity is putting together for all the Trust’s frontline medical staff.

The remaining sanitisers will then be given to hospital porters, catering, laundry, administrative, domestic and transportation staff.

Paula Wilson, Head of Charities and Fundraising for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are very grateful to Pharmalogic for this donation. Hand sanitiser is much sought after at the moment. It’s almost impossible to find any to buy anywhere so to be able to give every member of the Trust staff team their own personal supply to use at home is just wonderful.

“The majority of the sanitiser will go into NHS Heroes Care Packs, which we are currently working on. The packs will be for our frontline clinical staff and will contain practical items such as a drinks bottle, face wipes and snacks along with welfare and comfort items such as hand cream, shower gel and vitamins.”

Paula added: “we are seeking support from our business partners to provide items that will enable us all to show just how proud and appreciative we all are of their commitment and dedication at such an unprecedented time.”

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides district general hospital services to a local community of 390,000 and specialist services to 1.5m across Lancashire and South Cumbria. For enquiries about its charity, contact paula.wilson@lthtr.nhs.uk or call 01772 528500.
