Managing the sales and customer services call centre for Carphone Warehouse means the Capita team based at Ashton’s Tulketh Mill is pretty used to waxing on lyrical but a sponsored leg wax in support of Rosemere Cancer Foundation left some among them quite speechless!
Male team members especially, including Steve Hardy (pictured), found enduring the procedure also took their breath their away but they bravely surrendered their skin to help raise more than £1,000 for the charity.
The sponsored leg wax was the piece de resistance to a full day of fundraising, which also included games such as “Play Your Cards Right” and a cake sale organised by colleagues in Capita’s Fun Team.
Fun Team member Emma Whitemoss said: “All of us are passionate about raising money for charity, especially local charities such as Rosemere, which is close to many of our hearts.
“It’s the job of the Fun Team to bring such charities into the workplace so staff can find out more about what they do and also, through games, bake sales and sponsored events, come together and get to know one another better, which is a great motivator and good for office morale.”
The team is planning a second Rosemere Cancer Foundation fundraising day later in the year and is also supporting two other local charities.
Rosemere Cancer Foundation works to bring world class cancer services and treatments to cancer patients from throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria being treated at Rosemere Cancer Centre, which provides all the two counties’ radiotherapy treatment among other specialist care, and at another eight hospitals within the region that look after cancer patients.
