Downtown in Business has been nominated for the ‘fastest growing business’ prize at the 2023 British Irish Trade Association awards, which take place in London on Friday 10th November.

The lunchtime gala event will attract companies from across the UK and Ireland and the Downtown in Business group chairman and chief executive Frank McKenna said:

“I am delighted with this acknowledgment from such a well-respected, credible organisation. I can only pay tribute to my team – and to all those Downtown members who have stuck with us – for getting the business through the most challenging of times.

“For any events-led business, the pandemic was a nightmare. We have been further hit with rail strikes and other issues leading to the postponement of several of our major conferences.

“Nevertheless, we have continued to see our membership grow. We have established the brand in nine locations – Liverpool, Lancashire, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Cheshire, Wolverhampton, Newcastle, and London – and we have hosted more events this year than ever before, attracting some of the most influential politicians from across local, regional, and national government to those events.

“We also hosted our first international event at the property festival MIPIM in Cannes earlier this year, and we organised our very first ‘Business of Sport’ conference, along with our Property & Regeneration conference, and the Change Makers Live conference.

“There are one or two big announcements to come before the end of this year. But 2024 is going to be mega. It is great for us that our efforts have been recognised by BITA and I am looking forward to attending what I am sure will be a great awards event in London in November.”
