On Monday 15th September 2025 Downtown in Business, in collaboration with the West Midlands Combined Authority, will host a high-profile Parliamentary Reception on the iconic Terrace at the House of Commons to present the region’s Growth Plan

The event will bring together influential business leaders, investors, and policymakers from across Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, and the wider West Midlands City-Region. It will serve as a key platform to champion the region’s economic ambitions and foster direct engagement between regional businesses and national decision-makers, including MPs and Ministers.

Richard Parker, Mayor of the West Midlands, will headline the reception, unveiling his ambitious vision to drive investment, innovation, and inclusive growth, positioning the West Midlands as a leading force in the UK economy.

Richard Parker, Mayor of the West Midlands, said:

“I’m looking forwards to taking the West Midlands Growth Plan to Parliament – we’re going to make sure our region’s voice is heard at the heart of government.

“This isn’t just another launch, it’s a statement of intent. We’re showing that the West Midlands is ready to lead on the national stage again – with a serious, deliverable plan to grow our economy, create good jobs and put money back into people’s pockets.

“For too long, our region was overlooked while others pulled ahead. That changes now.”

The event will be the Parliamentary Launch of the West Midlands Growth Plan. The West Midlands Growth Plan is built around five high-growth clusters central to the region’s future economy:

  • Life Sciences and Health Tech
  • Digital and AI
  • Professional and Financial Services
  • Advanced Manufacturing and Electric Vehicles (EV)
  • Clean Tech and Smart Energy Systems
