On Monday 20th April 2026 Downtown in Business was delighted to host a roundtable at Old Palace Chester with Dan Price, bringing together business leaders for a focused and constructive discussion.
The conversation centred around the Fresh Start programme, launched in partnership with Probation and the Department for Work and Pensions. The initiative is designed to support people on probation back into meaningful employment, helping to reduce reoffending while strengthening local communities and the wider economy.
Attendees heard how Fresh Start is creating real opportunities for individuals to rebuild their lives, while also offering businesses access to a committed and often untapped workforce. The programme represents a practical, collaborative approach to tackling some of the region’s key social and economic challenges.
The discussion also explored the importance of working closely with communities and high streets to address safety issues, ensuring that town centres remain vibrant, secure and welcoming places for businesses, residents and visitors alike.
