East Mids Construction and Property Sector tees off to raise £3,000 for SWITCH UP

Professionals involved in the East Midlands construction and property sector recently took part in a charity golf day at Norwood Park, raising £3,000 in aid of the charity SWITCH UP.

Now in its fifth year, the annual CaPs (Construction & Property) Golf Day, was held on Thursday 16th September and was attended by 72 golfers representing 54 companies involved in the Construction and Property Sector. The event was founded in 2017 by John Tansur and David Ford (Gleeds) in order to support local charities.

The winning team was from Brewin Dolphin, and individual team prizes went to Paul Cook for longest drive and Elliot Cook for nearest the pin.

All the money raised from the 2021 golf day will benefit SWITCH UP, a charity set up to by Marcellus Baz BEM to empower young people in Nottingham to break the cycle of offending and reoffending. Baz was awarded the BBC’s Unsung Hero award in 2016 and holds a British Empire Medal for services to youth boxing and the community in Nottingham.

Commenting Baz said. “We are humbled to be named as CaPs’ charity for their golf day. The money raised will all go to helping our front line services, where we are seeing a wave of young people struggling on the back of this pandemic. It was also fantastic to be given this platform to discuss our work with local business leaders, and we hope to push some great initiatives and opportunities forward together on the back of today’s event. Thanks so much to all involved.”

Commenting on the success of the golf day, John Tansur said “Yet again the CaPs golf day has been a resounding success. Given the complexities of hosting events over the past 18 months, it was fantastic to see so many familiar faces and a some new ones, turn out to help us raise funds for another very worthwhile cause.”

David Ford added “The CaPs golf days show what can be achieved when the East Midlands construction and property comes together. We are humbled by the support we have continued to receive for the event and would like to thank all the sponsors and businesses who took part in the day for helping us reach our fundraising target. We look forward to seeing you again next year.”

Lead sponsors of the event included structural engineers HEXA Consulting, workplace consultants and interior fit out specialists Blueprint Interiors, Simple Marketing Consultancy which provide outsourced marketing services, commercial property agents Pygott and Crone, landscape architects Influence Environmental, Jennie Holland PR, 200 Degrees Coffee and the Skinny Food Company which provided a goody bag of zero calorie syrups, sauces and healthy treat options.

The four previous golf days and other charity events organised by CaPs have so far raised over £26,000 for charities that have included; Forever Stars, Austism East Midlands, and Newlife.
