VWV’s Birmingham office continues to expand

National law firm VWV has recently strengthened its corporate, commercial and immigration practices by three appointments in its Birmingham office at Brindleyplace.

The firm is delighted to welcome James Barr, Partner who joins the commercial and IT team, together with  Talitha Degwa who joins the immigration team and Nathan Gray into the corporate team.

James, previously from Gowling WLG LLP, joins with a focus on the aviation/aerospace, automotive and technology/telecoms sectors, having acted for some well-known brands.  James’ wide-ranging experience includes advising on large global outsourcing projects, to drafting routine general commercial and IT contracts.  In particular, James specialises in advising airlines on the procurement of their IT passenger services systems (including advising on the largest ever PSS outsourcing in excess of $500m) and has over recent years, advised a number of automotive OEMS on strategic projects including global manufacturing and distribution agreements and the development of e-commerce platforms.

Independent legal directory Chambers & Partners has previously identified James as a “Rising Star” / “One to Watch”.

Talitha joins VWV from London law firm Spencer West LLP where she built a broad commercial immigration practice, and developed her experience of working with specialist business immigration teams.  She joins VWV’s thriving national immigration practice as a Senior Associate, working with clients across a variety of sectors.

Nathan is a Senior Associate specialising in M&A and venture capital and investment deals, with a  focus on the tech and life-science sectors.  Nathan cites career highlights as acting as co-counsel to a large international manufacturer on the sale of its Chinese operations to a US multinational and acting on the disposal of a local Birmingham tech company to a Korean multinational.  Nathan joins from Higgs LLP.
