Well hasn’t 2022 gone off to a flying start? Here at DIB we have got both feet on the ground and we are ready to run with all of our plans for the year ahead.
We had a great year of events last year, we hosted two large scale events in Birmingham, the City of Birmingham Business Awards and the National Property Conference – Talking Bout’ Regeneration, as well our infamous exclusive round tables which we hold a couple of times a month.
We have started this year strong, and our first event took place at the stunning Riva Blu on Tuesday 25th January. Riva Blu is the new name for Gino’s restaurants which along with the other Club Individual restaurants have now been taken over by Iceland. It is still the same stunning venue, food, drinks and staff, just no Gino pictures on the walls anymore. I mean who needed to see his face THAT many times anyway?! It was so amazing to be back in the room mingling, meeting new people and exchanging business cards. After the festive period everyone is raring to go again so a relaxed round table with an array of sectors in the room proved to be a huge success!
The year’s events calendar is full, and we will be hosting round tables with Nick Barton, Bruntwood, Azets, council leaders and many more, not forgetting another large scale event that will be joining us in Birmingham in Q4… the Women in Business awards. It is incredible to get the best of Birmingham in the room at both COBBA and WIBA, and what an opportunity to network, create some brand awareness, build your personal profile, and of course (if you’re lucky) win an award! I am very much looking forward to them both.
It is more important than ever to check in with your friends in business, support in anyway you can whether that be attending their events, introducing them to a potential lead or beneficial connection, sharing anything on socials and any kind words and praise. Birmingham is a very close-knit community where warm referrals and introductions are done on the daily and so many fun events and get togethers are held. I know other cities can’t say the same. How lucky are we to have the friends in business that we do and the opportunities we are given? After a horrendous two years for many, let’s make 2022 amazing, exciting, and of course successful.
