The Employment Rights Bill is expected to receive Royal Assent this autumn, with major reforms due to take effect from 2026. While Downtown in Business (DIB) supports measures tackling exploitative practices such as zero-hour contract abuses, hire-and-rehire, and unfair limits on sick pay, we are deeply concerned that several elements of the Bill will create unintended but damaging consequences for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
