The cupcakes are arriving this week from Bala, Gwynedd, where staff at The Cake Crew craft their cakes for UK’s best national retailers.

The company’s Preston-based Commercial Director Phil Kitchen worked in conjunction with the company’s owners to arrange the delivery after his wife Nicola, who works at the Royal Preston Hospital, made them aware of a Facebook post by Rosemere Cancer Foundation. It explained how the whole hospital, which is managed by Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, was pulling together to help the medical teams at the Covid-19 frontline.

Phil said: “We as a business have total respect and admiration for what these NHS Heroes are doing up and down the country. If we can help make their break-time just that little bit more pleasurable by offering them a cupcake with their cuppa then it’s the least we can do.”

Dan Hill, chief officer of Rosemere Cancer Foundation, said: “On behalf of the Trust, we would like to thank The Cake Crew for its very generous donation. It’s a lovely gesture that I am sure will be much appreciated by our frontline staff.”
