On Tuesday 2nd July, Downtown in Business will be joined by John Duncan of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority at an exclusive Lunch event in Manchester – ‘Connected Places: Connectivity for Good’.
From 12 -2:30 pm, we will welcome Business Leaders, Entrepreneurs and key players in the Manchester Business world to discuss the future of Digital infrastructure in the Manchester City Region and how the business community can play their role in developing this.
Over recent years, the Manchester City region has undergone significant regeneration and development both in its architectural and social infrastructure.
One area in which we have seen significant change (but which the evolving nature of means there is always room for growth and expansion), is Digital Infrastructure, which helps bring communities and businesses together and keep the region growing.
As the current Connected Places Lead at Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), John Ducan is passionate about the use of technology to enhance people’s lives, protect the environment and lead to a more equitable and inclusive society.
His experience makes him the perfect choice to speak on the most recent developments happening in the world of connectivity and digital Infrastructure, how these might be utilised in the Manchester Region and how various sectors can work together to make the most of the latest technological advancements and build a brighter future for the region.

At this exclusive lunch John will be discussing his thoughts and experiences after his first couple of months in the role, how the Greater Manchester Combined Authority plan to go about building world class digital infrastructure in the region and how the business community can play their role in this.
John’s successful career has spanned both the public and private sectors. He has vast experience in the Digital Sector, working in Digital Strategy, Connectivity, and Inclusion, having held roles at Leeds City Council, Virgin Media O2 Business and now GMCA
He thrives on being an ambassador for the projects, and organisations he represents at all levels, and has become a regular speaker at national and regional events on Digital for Good.
Throughout his career and experiences as Digital Inclusion Programme Manager and now Connected Places Lead at GMCA, as well as at Virgin Media O2 Business, John has taken pride in making positive lasting change for citizens and customers. Attendees of the event will be party to his invaluable insights and begin to consider their role in building the future of the Manchester City region.
