Bank of England to open new Leeds hub

The Bank of England has followed the Treasury in announcing its plans to move some of its team out of London to crate a new northern hub in Leeds.

The Bank of England has followed the Treasury in announcing its plans to move some of its team out of London to crate a new northern hub in Leeds.

The financial giant said its expanded presence in one of the UKs main financial centres outside of the capital was part of an ambitious plan to increase its staff reach significantly across the UK.

Roger Marsh, chair of the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership welcomed the news saying:

“Our region is already home to some of the UKs largest financial institutions and this announcement, just weeks after the city was named as the home of the new UK infrastructure Bank, makes West Yorkshire the undisputed centre for financial services outside of London.”

The news will be equally welcomed by the new city council leader James Lewis who, alongside the councils’ Chief Executive Tom Riordan, will be speaking at the Downtown in Business national property conference, to be hosted at the world-famous Belfry Hotel on Thursday 9th September.
