The local mobility map illustrates movement trends across local authority districts over time. Using data from Google Mobility Reports, we can see how movement to retail and workplace locations have changed on a fortnightly basis since February, relative to a baseline level recorded between 3rd January and 6th February 2020. The map allows us to establish how mobility has been affected in those areas of the country that have seen tighter levels of restrictions. Furthermore, the map highlights the differentiation between major cities, suburban locations, and those areas which have benefitted, at least relatively, from the changes to our everyday life – from where we go on holiday, to where we work and shop – that we have seen during the pandemic.
