Civil and structural engineering firm, Sutcliffe, proudly hosted a glamorous charity ball at the Titanic Hotel’s Rum Warehouse on April 21, with auction prizes including Eurovision tickets, a signed Pelé and Muhammad Ali print, plus signed Liverpool and Everton shirts.
Sutcliffe’s aim was to raise £50,000, which will help the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and its SWAN model support more patients and their families with excellent, individualised end-of-life and bereavement care for every patient, every family, at every time. Surpassing its initial target, Sutcliffe raised over £50,000 on the night of the charity ball.
With Sutcliffe boasting a proud reputation in the healthcare sector, having worked on projects across the North West including Liverpool Royal, the Women’s, Arrowe Park, Clatterbridge, Aintree hospitals and further afield, Christies, Countess of Chester and Stepping Hill, the charity ball was yet another opportunity for the company to give back to the NHS and the communities and organisations that have served them so well since it began in 1985.
Director of nursing at LUHFT and founder of the SWAN model, Fiona Murphy MBE was also in attendance on the night. Funds raised will also be invested into the NHS and its end-of-life care teams to ensure they have the resources and the environment required to support individual needs.
Sean Keyes, managing director, Sutcliffe, said:
“No matter your age, the NHS will have helped you in one way or another, whether that be at the start or the end of life. At Sutcliffe, we have always cared about the communities we work within and our charity ball was our way of saying thank you and giving back to an organisation that has helped millions of lives throughout the last 75 years.
“I’m overjoyed that we were able to surpass our target of £50,000 for the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and its SWAN model. It is such a worthy cause and the ball was a wonderful example of a community digging deep and going the extra mile to support its NHS and celebrate the inspiring work it does.”
Fiona Murphy MBE, director of nursing at LUHFT, and founder of the SWAN model, said:
“The SWAN model will vastly improve the experience for the patients and their loved ones at an extremely difficult time.
“I want to ensure that nothing is too much trouble; I want them to feel that there is compassion and understanding from everybody, from the cleaner to the consultant. I want information to be given freely and communicated to families and our patients in a tailored way.
“Most importantly, our SWAN model will allow us to support our patients and their families and allow them to be involved in decisions being made regarding their care and their wishes. Your support will transform our end-of-life care to make a positive difference to our most vulnerable patients and their families.”
Austin Wilkinson Demolition was headline sponsor of the evening, with further sponsors being Butterworth Spengler, Krol Corlett and Metro Developments.
