Valentine’s Day is just 12 weeks away! – and We Love MCR Charity plans to get hearts racing this Valentine’s with an exhilarating cold water immersion dip in Sale Water Park. Daredevils taking part will be raising funds for their work supporting Manchester’s ambitious communities and young people.

The 25-year-old Charity has form for giving its supporters eyebrow-raising fundraising challenges. In the last 18 months We Love MCR hosted a firewalk in St. Peter’s Square, and persuaded 104 daredevils to complete Manchester’s longest-ever abseil off a 22-storey tower block.

Their latest event challenges Mancunians to take a plunge into Sale Water Park, wearing anything BUT a wetsuit, during the time of year when freshwater is at its coldest – around 4 degrees!

The challenge will be delivered by Jane McCormick of Openswim, who is accredited in cold-water immersion training by world-renowned expert Wim Hof. Full training in breathwork and controlling the body’s response to cold water will be provided by Jane at the lake-side. Entertainment and refreshments will be available for dippers, plus their friends and family who come to cheer them on. Music will be provided by DJs and Manchester-based artist Ceeow.

The “We Love MCR Valentine’s Dip” takes place on Saturday 18th February and will be limited to just 150 places. The event fee is just £10, and Dippers are asked to raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship.

Please visit We Love MCR’s website here for full info on how to sign up, and to learn about the positive work they undertake across Manchester.

Head of Charity Ged Carter said “We’re asking hardy Mancunians to get their heart racing this Valentine’s! This is a real mind-over-matter challenge for a great cause. Join me, and the courageous Lord Mayor of Manchester, for your coldest dip ever.”

The event is generously sponsored by Hewlett Packard Enterprise, so all event costs are already covered and no sponsorship raised will be spent on event costs.
