Chief Executive of Manchester City Council, Joanne Roney will be celebrating her second-year anniversary in the role by joining Downtown CEO, Frank McKenna and Leader of Manchester City Council, Sir Richard Leese at this exclusive Downtown breakfast event at Deloitte.
Just as Richard did in 1996, Joanne’s first major task was reacting to the dreadful bombing at Manchester Arena. As was the case twenty plus years ago, Manchester’s leadership team acted exceptionally and the public and private sector, along with the public support come together and highlighted that famous Manchester resilience across the globe.
It is one of the many qualities that Manchester has become renowned for over the years and alongside the ‘can do’ attitude, it has placed the city firmly at the heart of The Northern Powerhouse as well as being seen as world class city.
Downtown Chief, Frank McKenna will be discussing the importance of public and private sector partnerships in delivering some key projects over the years in Manchester, including Graphene at The University of Manchester, the development of Manchester Airport and Airport City and attracting some of the leading tech companies to the city.
Of course, with all successes come great challenges and amongst all this, Sir Richard and Joanne will give their insights into the future of Manchester, the economic growth plans, education and skills, transport, city living, arts and culture amongst much, much more.
