The High Speed Rail Group (HSRG) is delighted to invite you to attend their upcoming event taking place on Thursday 20th October, 18:00 – 20:00, at the Institute for High Speed Rail and System Integration, University of Leeds to explore how increased transport investment in all parts of the country could deliver on the Government’s flagship ‘Levelling Up’ policy.
Done right, investment in transport infrastructure can create larger and more unified labour markets, improve peoples’ access to local services, enhance firm-to-firm connectivity, and expand access to new and existing markets. In other words, transport has an essential role to play in levelling up.
The conversation will be particularly pertinent in light of the recent appointment of our new Prime Minister Liz Truss, and will be a timely opportunity to look ahead to the immediate and medium-term future of UK transport, including projects chosen for acceleration as part of last week’s Growth Plan 2022.
There will be a Q&A following the panel discussion so that the panellists and audience members can debate these ideas to their fullest, and the evening will conclude with networking drinks.
We’re delighted to announce that we will be joined by:
- Henri Murison, Chief Executive, Northern Powerhouse Partnership
- Cllr Bev Craig, Leader, Manchester City Council
- Frank McKenna, Chief Executive, Downtown in Business
Further speakers, including our Chair, will be confirmed shortly.
