Next Monday, 15th September 2025, Downtown in Business (DIB), in collaboration with the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), will host a high-profile Parliamentary Reception on the Terrace at the House of Commons to present the West Midlands Growth Plan.
The reception will bring together business leaders, investors, and policymakers from across Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, and the wider West Midlands City-Region. It will provide a key platform for direct engagement with MPs and Ministers and highlight the region’s economic ambitions on the national stage.
Mayor Richard Parker will lead the event, unveiling his vision to drive investment, innovation, and inclusive growth in the West Midlands. He said:
“I’m looking forwards to taking the West Midlands Growth Plan to Parliament – we’re going to make sure our region’s voice is heard at the heart of government.
“This isn’t just another launch, it’s a statement of intent. We’re showing that the West Midlands is ready to lead on the national stage again – with a serious, deliverable plan to grow our economy, create good jobs and put money back into people’s pockets.
“For too long, our region was overlooked while others pulled ahead. That changes now.”
The Growth Plan focuses on five high-growth clusters central to the region’s future economy:
- Life Sciences & Health Tech
- Digital & AI
- Professional & Financial Services
- Advanced Manufacturing & Electric Vehicles (EVs)
- Clean Tech & Smart Energy Systems
The reception, supported by Aston University and OneAdvanced, underscores the West Midlands’ commitment to economic leadership, innovation, and regional prosperity.
DIB and WMCA are excited to welcome delegates next week to this prestigious event, showcasing the region’s ambition and growth potential to national policymakers.
