MoneyPenny founder addresses DIB audience

Downtown Birmingham in Business hosted a special “By invitation only” lunch with Rachel Clacher, the Co-Founder of MoneyPenny at The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Birmingham City Centre. Rachel delivered a superb speech on her journey from an idea formed with her brother back in the year 2000 all the way through tobecoming global leaders in telephone answering and outsourced switchboard services with a team 500 strong, handling in excess of 10 million calls on behalf of more than 10,000 companies and being awarded the prestigious title of the Sunday times top 5 companies to work for.

The session, chaired by Pete Morgan, gave guests the opportunity to hear from Rachel on the importance ofpeople development and staff retention when running a business. Rachel believes so much so in people development that this led to the charity WeMindTheGap being established. WeMindtheGap provide opportunities in life and work to unemployed under-served young women through providing holistic paid for training programmes as well as bridging the gap between the public and private sector to secure meaningful work experience, fabulous mentors, and experienced coaches.

Guests were treated to tips and tricks when it comes to staff retention, the importance and skills gained through development programmes and listened to stories of some of Rachel’s fondest memories whilst working in the private and third sector.

Pete Morgan said after the event “Rachel is such a good speaker – engaging, funny and honest. I honestly don’t know how anyone couldn’t have walked out of that networking meeting after hearing her and not take something away that they could apply to their own business almost immediately.”
