Liverpool-based health, safety and wellbeing consultancy, Health@Work, will be offering FREE blood pressure checks from 10th until 14th September as part of Blood Pressure UK’s Know Your Numbers Week.
An estimated 5.5 million people are currently unaware they have high blood pressure which can be the sign of underlying health problems including diabetes, kidney disease and lupus. Having regular checks and treatment reduces your risk of developing heart disease by 17%, your risk of stroke by 27% and your risk of heart failure by 28%.
In a bid to raise awareness, Health@Work will be holding drop-in sessions for members of the business and professional communities to get their blood pressure checked for free. Health@Work will also be offering practical advice on how to manage high or low blood pressure.
Suzanne Wootton, Workplace Wellbeing Consultant for Health@Work said:
“Keeping a track of your blood pressure is vital to leading a healthy lifestyle. High and low blood pressure can lead to a number of life-long health problems which, if caught early, can be managed properly or even prevented. There are several ways businesses and organisation can help employees manage their blood pressure and offering regular checks is the first step. The checks are quick, painless and could help you to spot other health problems before they develop into something more serious.”
The drop-in sessions will be held at the company’s Mann Island head-quarters in Avenue HQ on the following dates:
Monday 10th September 2018 12pm – 5pm
Wednesday 12th September 2018 10am – 2pm
Thursday 13th September 2018 9am – 1pm
Friday 14th September 2018 1pm – 4pm
(Avenue HQ, 17 Mann Island, Liverpool, L3 1BP)
