SK’s Events Tom Griffin, Climbs Mt Kilimanjaro for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital

Our lovely Tom is off to climb Africa’s largest mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro. We are supporting him all the way and hope you will too! Read all about the where, when and why and keep up to date with his progress on our blog and social media.

Tom has decided to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in aide of Alder Hey Children’s hospital. If anyone has ever, or knows anyone who has ever needed to go to Alder Hey, they’ll know what an amazing service Alder Hey provides. Alder Hey is very close to so many families across the region, Tom’s included – his brother was rushed to Alder Hey with Meningitis, and after a long, hard battle, he came through with little more than a scratch thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Alder Hey staff. It’s now time to give back to this pillar of the city of Liverpool.

The climb begins on the 4th of October and continues through to the 14th. The trek follows the beautiful Machame route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the south, which encounters dense tropical rainforest and moorland until you reach the snow-capped summit. Breath taking views and beautiful ice formations wait as the reward for pushing through the gruelling 10 day climb. Tom will be challenged both mentally and physically but we have no doubt he will push through!

Tom has been working towards this challenging task by hiking in the lakes and pushing his limits in order to be fit for the climb. As you read this I can guarantee he is sitting answering the phone with a dead arm after yet another shot to prepare him for the once in a life time experience.
