There is fast growing recognition that climate change must be addressed, as many are becoming increasingly aware of changes that can be made. Wellington Place is designed to be an exemplary development in low carbon design and energy efficiency.

Carbon Neutral B&M Waste Services offer recycling-led solutions to businesses across the Leeds and West Yorkshire region. They provide businesses, large and small, with sustainable waste management services, including tailored waste segregation schemes on-site, clearly signposted to show what waste should go into each bin. Waste is moved across site in a trailer by on-site waste operatives, to reduce heavy vehicle movements on-site – in turn, reducing noise pollution and the carbon impact. As much waste as possible is separated for recycling, including paper, card, and glass.

Mick Ashall, Director at B&M Waste Services, said: “We have worked with a number of expanding companies and new developments alike; it’s exciting when sustainability is a key focus, as it is at Wellington Place. Carbon impact is high up the agenda and the team, tenants and visitors have been highly receptive to the waste segregation, which has seen the carbon savings of landfill diversion increase through using our Carbon Neutral service.”

Phil Clifford, Estate Manager at Wellington Place, said: “Sustainability is a key concept behind the design of the masterplan and in the development of the individual buildings, drawing on best practice from the UK, Europe and further afield. B&M Waste have helped us achieve our sustainability aims and continue to work with us as the site continues to grow and new buildings are completed.”

Jim Harris, Building Manager at Wellington Place commented: “It’s a great working relationship with B&M Waste. With environmental impact as the core ethos of both businesses, and them being Carbon Neutral, it’s a great match. Together we’ve increased our recycling levels through segregating our recyclable materials, made easier through clear signage on the bins. We have regular account management meetings and updates, and they use the very latest vehicles, which reassures us and our tenants that our indirect carbon emissions from our waste is Carbon Neutral.”

The results of the partnership is clear, increased diversion of waste from landfill through recycling of paper, card and glass. The indirect carbon emissions saved through this increased recycling are significant as a consequence of this.

Across Leeds and the West Yorkshire region, B&M Waste work with a number of clients, including The Core Shopping Centre, Doubletree by Hilton, Leeds Brewery Company, XERCISE4LESS as well as Wellington Place. B&M Waste provide recycling and waste collections which fit with their own working schedules, waste volumes and types. Offering a free waste audit, can your business afford not to contact them and start saving money and the environment?
