A quartet of lung cancer nurse specialists, based at Rosemere Cancer Centre, is to be among the delegates attending this year’s International World Lung Cancer Conference in Barcelona next month (7th to 10th September 2019)
The team, which is made up of Laura Hall, Emma Barber, Sharon Spencer and Cancer Care Co-ordinator Jenni Anderson, is being sponsored to attend by Rosemere Cancer Foundation, which has contributed £788 towards the cost of travel and accommodation. Other cancer charities Macmillan and HASAG (Asbestos Disease Support) have donated £1,424 to cover conference registration fees and £500 respectively.
Laura Hall explained: “This is the largest lung cancer conference internationally and therefore a great opportunity for the Lung Cancer CNS Team to network with global colleagues, share best practice and update knowledge, particularly with recent advances in lung cancer management and treatment.
“We see approximately 300 new lung cancer patients per year. We also offer support to ongoing patients, who are continuing with treatment from previous years. We hope the knowledge and best practice gained from the conference will improve patient experience.”
Rosemere Cancer Foundation works to bring world class cancer treatments and services to cancer patients from throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria being treated at Rosemere Cancer Centre, the region’s specialist cancer treatment centre at the Royal Preston Hospital, and at another eight local hospital cancer units across the two counties.
The charity funds cutting edge equipment, research, training and other cancer services and therapies that the NHS is unable to afford. For further information on its work, including how to make a donation, visit www.rosemere.org.uk
