Weston Point College in Runcorn has become the first School in Halton to be awarded the prestigious ADHD Friendly School award by the ADHD Foundation, for their work with young people with ADHD in the last academic year. Weston Point College is proudly committed to supporting Young People in the local area to improve their life chances through education.
Weston Point College has displayed an outstanding commitment to all of their students with ADHD. The school has an array of support structures and strategies to ensure that the students with ADHD can access the curriculum fully and are happy and achieving at school. In addition, thorough staff training has been provided by the ADHD Foundation.
All students learn about and celebrate Neurodiversity. Lessons are structured to provide opportunities for thinking and reflection. Timetables and classroom activities are highly personalised. Physical activity is prioritised for the students with ADHD. There are daily opportunities available for all students with students able to decide which activities work best for them and plentiful outdoor learning sessions. The school also provides a much needed calming environment for those students with ADHD who sometimes find school a very anxious place. Yoga, mindfulness and a Sensory space in school are available to all students with ADHD.
