It should not come as a surprise that the large sports organising bodies of today rigorously protect their events, brands and trademarks, especially during major competitions. The International Olympics Committee and UEFA are two such organisations and with both running re-scheduled events this summer, we thought it useful to take a look at how they protect their intellectual properties, and how businesses need to be mindful when advertising before, during and after the period of such events.
