Edgbaston Park Hotel celebrates 3rd birthday and toasts hospitality success in a Post-COVID World

Whilst the world has returned to a new kind of normality, the hospitality sector which was one of the first to be suffer has seen some veritable green shoots of recovery.

Edgbaston Park Hotel is on track to have its best-performing summer since it opened in 2018, proof that it’s not only possible for the hospitality industry to recover post-COVID but thrive as it once did. The hotel is currently operating at an average weekly occupancy of above 70%, with capacity reaching as high as 95% on weekends.

Billy Harris, Head of Commercial at Edgbaston Park Hotel, commented that “to have had such a strong comeback after the past 17 months is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the hotel’s staff, especially as the industry wasn’t expected to perform to this level until 2023 at the earliest”.

Edgbaston Park Hotel & Conference Centre remained open throughout the pandemic to support NHS workers, before re-opening fully to commercial guests in May. Since then, the hotel has grown from strength to strength. The hotel’s convenient location, with Birmingham’s main attractions on its doorstep, has undoubtedly also played a part in its success.

This year, Edgbaston Park Hotel has welcomed more sports spectators than ever before after partnering with Edgbaston Stadium, and has proved an attractive option for University of Birmingham graduation guests wanting to stay on campus. The team have also secured over 100 wedding bookings for the next 12 months in just one of their venues alone.

Billy attributes the hotel’s strong performance to several factors but noted that “adapting and diversifying our packages, services and offerings has been key. From guests staying for their summer staycation to residential conference delegates, Edgbaston Park Hotel has something to offer everyone”.

“We are really forward to what hopes to be another bumper year with the Commonwealth Games coming to the city. As we are part of Birmingham University we will have the hockey and squash games on campus – it’s going to be another really exciting time.”

It’s no wonder then that this 4-star hotel is known as ‘Birmingham’s best’. As the hotel looks forward to turning three years old next month, the future is looking bright for Edgbaston Park Hotel.
