£41,000 raised for charity in Manchester’s biggest ever abseil

Over 100 Manc daredevils descended a dizzying 270ft and £41,000 raised for We Love MCR Charity who support Mancunian communities and young people.

We Love MCR Charity hosted their latest mind-over-matter fundraising challenge on Castlefield’s One Regent tower last month, which at a staggering 26 storeys high makes it the biggest top-to-bottom abseil in Manchester history.

A total of 105 people took part over the weekend event. Notable daredevils included Deputy Lord Mayor of Manchester Yasmine Dar who is a Trustee of the Charity, plus Manchester City Council Leader Bev Craig.

The total raised by the abseilers is an incredible £41,000 – making it We Love MCR’s most successful sponsored event ever.

All funds will go directly towards We Love MCR’s Stronger Communities Fund and Manchester’s Rising Stars Fund, which seek to empower grass-roots community projects and to change the lives of ambitious but disadvantaged young Mancunians.

Feel like you missed out? We Love MCR tests their supporters’ bravery every year, so all Downtown in Business members should keep an eye on their website and social media for news on their next challenge in 2023.
