Tees Valley Showcases £200m Crown Square and Major Investment Opportunities at UKREiiF 2025

Mayor Ben Houchen and business leaders emphasized growing national and international confidence, with key schemes like Teesworks, Darlington’s civil service hub, and Hartlepool’s film studios underlining the region’s ambition and transformation.

Transformational projects from across the Tees Valley, including the £200 million Crown Square development in Middlesbrough, were presented to global investors at UKREiiF 2025 in Leeds.

A delegation representing the region’s five local authorities—Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland, and Stockton-on-Tees—joined forces with Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen, the Tees Valley Combined Authority, Teesworks, and business leaders to spotlight a wave of multi-billion pound investment opportunities.

Mayor Houchen said the enthusiastic response to key projects—from the large-scale redevelopment of Teesworks to Darlington’s growing role in the civil service and Hartlepool’s expanding film studios—reflects growing national and international confidence in the region.

He added “It was a real privilege to help launch Crown Square – finally bringing long-overdue action to the heart of Middlesbrough with a £200million vision to transform the town for generations to come.

“These events are more than just talk – they’re the shopfront to show off our ambition and bring even more investment through the door.”

Key developments highlighted included the £160 million Investment Zone, the Crown Square regeneration, and Tees Central—an ambitious plan to build a Care and Health Innovation Zone on the town’s waterfront.

Siobhan McArdle, chair of the Tees Valley Business Board, said: “Our presence at UKREiiF underlined the confidence and capability of Tees Valley’s business community to help drive real, meaningful change. It was inspiring to see our public and private sectors standing shoulder to shoulder, telling a joined-up story of transformation, talent and tenacity.

“We are not just breaking boundaries – we’re redefining what this region can achieve. The scale of ambition on display this week shows that Tees Valley is not only open for business but leading from the front. That should give every investor, employer and resident real cause for optimism.”
