Down-Toon: Business group set to launch in the North East

The group chair and Chief Executive of Downtown in Business, Frank McKenna, has announced that the private sector lobby group and business networking club will launch in Newcastle in May next year.

The group chair and Chief Executive of Downtown in Business (DIB), Frank McKenna, has announced that the private sector lobby group and business networking club will launch in Newcastle in May next year.

The launch event will take place at the city’s Innside by Melia Hotel on the evening of Thursday 19th May 2022.

Mr. McKenna said:

“We are delighted to reveal that Newcastle will be the next core city where the Downtown brand will be established. The city is one of the most exciting in the UK, with a huge amount of opportunity and potential moving forward.

“We already have many members who have a presence in the city, and we are really looking forward to getting to know the business community across the Northeast.”

Mr. McKenna added:

“This is part of our plan for DIB to become a national business voice by the end of 2023. We are determined to offer businesses an independent, robust, and fearless platform from which entrepreneurs, business owners, and decision-makers can effectively engage with politicians at a local, regional, and national level.

“We also offer a fantastic B2B service that has helped facilitate over £2Billion worth of deals being done across our network since we set up in 2003. I am sure that Newcastle will be a place where the Downtown brand can add value and continue to thrive.”

DIB was established in 2003. It currently operates in seven locations. Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Lancashire, Cheshire, and London.
