The Group chair and chief executive of Downtown in Business Frank McKenna has been appointed on to the Executive of the Labour Party’s SME business board.

Mr McKenna said:

“I am delighted to have joined the executive team that engages with Labours leadership on the many issues and challenges facing small and medium enterprises in lour country.

“I think over the past eighteen months or so, business has sensed a genuine shift in terms of Labours attitude to business. The shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves has spoken of her determination to provide a platform from where businesses and the economy can grow, whilst Keir Starmer has signalled his support for business-friendly policies.

“I hope that this role will enable me to continue to press the case for business with Labours leaders – but also provide a perspective from the north and the midlands too.”
