Downtown in Business formally launched in Birmingham on Thursday 24th September 2015 – and to mark a decade in the city, we are hosting some very special events in the city over the next three months.
A West Midlands parliamentary reception, a special ‘Change Makers Live’ Summit at Aston University, and an exclusive event focussing on Aston Villa and Birmingham City Football Clubs are among the highlights.
DIB group chair and chief executive Frank McKenna said:
“We are delighted to be celebrating our tenth year in Birmingham, where we have hosted so many brilliant events, helped connect hundred of businesses, and made many memories and friends.
“Our opening night was a bit of a drama. We had it planned for months and then found that our launch event at Marco Pierre White’s clashed with the official opening of the New John Lewis store at New Street Station.
“The numbers attending the DIB launch were much depleted as a result – but it is testament to the subsequent support of the Birmingham business community that we are still here a decade later – and John Lewis, sadly, is not.”
