Four Appointments for Award-Winning Agency

Jewellery Quarter based eCommerce agency, Cake, is celebrating a year of exponential growth and a flurry of award wins, with the appointment of four new team members, following its rebrand earlier this year.

The award-winning digital agency has appointed Mell Russon from School of Code as well as Sam Bacon, Liberty Mason, and Harry Wilkins; each of whom are recent graduates from Birmingham City University. Championing young talent in the marketing and tech industry, Cake pledges its support to recent graduates by helping them into the world of work with its promise to hire three new graduates every year.

The addition of the four new recruits has seen the Cake team grow to 21 members. All four will work on an array of Cake’s Birmingham-based retail brands, such as 304 Clothing, P&Co and Love Logs.

CEO and Founder at Cake, Chris Thomas, comments:

“I am so pleased to welcome Mell, Sam, Liberty and Harry to the team – they all bring so much to Cake and I look forward to seeing them all develop and grow in their brand new roles. It’s so important for us to champion young talent at Cake, and it’s proven a great asset to the company as we welcome new experiences, knowledge and insight to the agency. It makes me incredibly proud that as a company we’re able to support the next generation of talent, and I look forward to seeing them flourish at Cake.”

Awarded ‘Fast Growth Business’ at the West Midlands Business Awards, the agency has celebrated a milestone year, hitting £1 million in sales. Following an increase of 80% in the last 12 months, this has seen the agency treble its sales and resulted in the appointment of Andy Brown as Non-Executive Director and Luther Spicer as Creative Director.

Cake was also commended earlier this year by the Lloyds Business of Excellence Awards and the UK E-commerce Awards for its success in the past 12 months.

We’ve had a monumental year at Cake, and I couldn’t be prouder of the team. It was an honour to receive ‘Fast Growth Business’ at the Business Masters Awards earlier this month, following what has been an incredible 12 months for the agency and our clients. Being acknowledged at this regional awards is an honour, and gives recognition to our dedicated team and the work they continue to do for our clients,” continued Chris.
