And just like that, it’s already been one week since Downtown in Business hosted their latest annual Women in Business Awards, and what a day that was! After only joining Downtown in Business in November, I never imagined I would get the opportunity to organise one of Liverpool’s most recognised award shows. This was my first ever award event as Event Manager, and it was one to remember!
Planning an award show can seem glamorous, however let me just say, a lot of hard work goes into this behind the scenes and it’s all the small details that make the biggest difference, but once everything comes together and seeing the finished results on the day, it really is the most rewarding feeling.
I am sure all of you who attended or have seen pictures, will agree that the room was absolutely stunning and like our CEO Frank Mckenna said ‘It was like walking into a florist’ the décor was everything we could have imagined and more and we couldn’t thank the amazing ‘The Festive Group’ enough for their incredible work.
I could not of achieved such a successful event without the help of my partner in crime and our amazing Event Coordinator, Chloe Seed. Chloe’s attention to detail and organisational skills is next to none, and its safe to say we make the ‘dream team’ I cannot wait to plan more events with you Chloe!
The response and feedback we have had in the past week has really been amazing and although I will probably never get the feeling in my feet back from wearing high heels for 16hours- it was totally worth it!
The one word I would use to describe how I felt from Friday would be INSPIRED- wow the talent of females in one room was fierce, from our fabulous sponsor Charlotte Donoghue, her story on how she and business partner Stephanie Porter created Say It With Diamonds and what they have achieved in just 6 years is remarkable and motivating! And it’s safe to say Charlotte, you kept the audience on top form with your AMAZING humour!
And our Woman of the year 2022, Dr Natalie Kenny, an absolute wonder woman. I am in true awe of you Natalie and the work you have done in the past 5 years is extraordinary. As well as being an incredible scientist, your determination, strength and passion for women equality is truly inspiring, you are unstoppable and exactly what the world needs.
Every other nominee, winner and woman who attended should be incredibly proud of themselves for the work they do! It’s an honour to be part of a company that supports and celebrates women! On that note, lets continue to lift each other up and work hard, because the future really is female.
With one award show down, I am on to the next planning our annual City of Liverpool Business Awards (COLBA) and if it is anything like WIBA it will be an unforgettable night!
