Downtown in Business hosted an exclusive dinner with CEO of Homes England, Eammon Boylan on Tuesday 29th April 2025 at The Hyatt Regency, Manchester.
Business leaders from across the North West’s property sector gathered to hear Eamonn speak about the future of housing and regeneration across the country.
Eamonn delivered a comprehensive overview of the government’s housing targets, whilst also providing clarity on delivery ambitions and the evolving role of agencies like Homes England in bridging the gap between national policy and local delivery.
The discussion also delved into the complexities of devolution and its potential to accelerate regional decision-making, particularly in housing and infrastructure. Eamonn highlighted the importance of national and local leadership and strategic planning in addressing viability gaps, especially in areas where economic returns do not yet match development costs.
Key points also raised included the need to address skills shortages across the construction and housing sectors, planning reform, how we can better use Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and the growing demand for innovative approaches to later living – a demographic trend with significant implications for housing policy.
Downtown in Business Director, Chris McKenna commented “As ever, Eamonn was really good value and it gave our partners a good opportunity to speak openly with him around the challengers they face, but more importantly how they can work together in addressing some of the issues facing the housing industry today.”
