Paul Dennett was elected the Mayor of Salford in 2016. As the Mayor of Salford he is also a member of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, is the GMCA’s portfolio lead for Healthy Lives and Homelessness, and, since December 2021, is the Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester.

Stephen Young is an experienced public-sector leader with over 30 years’ experience, including senior roles in local government. He has previously served as Chief Executive at Halton Borough Council and held leadership positions at Lancashire County Council and Bolton Council. In 2025, he was appointed Chief Executive of Salford City Council, where he also serves as Head of Paid Service, Returning Officer, and Place-Based Lead for Health for Greater Manchester. He is focused on driving regeneration, promoting inclusivity, and supporting sustainable growth in Salford.
