Leader’s Lunch with Stephen Young

On Tuesday 20th January 2026, Downtown in Business will host an exclusive Leader’s Lunch with Stephen Young, Chief Executive of Salford City Council.

Stephen Young is an experienced public-sector leader with over 30 years’ experience, including senior roles in local government. He has previously served as Chief Executive at Halton Borough Council and held leadership positions at Lancashire County Council and Bolton Council. In 2025, he was appointed Chief Executive of Salford City Council, where he also serves as Head of Paid Service, Returning Officer, and Place-Based Lead for Health for Greater Manchester. He is focused on driving regeneration, promoting inclusivity, and supporting sustainable growth in Salford.
