Economic benefits of Eurovision will be extensive

Joel Lawson, director at Avison Young reacts to the news that Liverpool has been chosen to host Eurovision 2023.

Following the announcement that Eurovision 2023 will be held in Liverpool Joel Lawson, director at Avison Young, said: “It’s fantastic news that Liverpool has been chosen as the host city for Eurovision and I’ve no doubt that the city will make the most of this platform, much like it did with Capital of Culture.

“The economic benefits to the city, in terms of hotel occupancy, restaurant bookings, retail sales and the wider visitor economy will be extensive.

“The whole city has been behind the winning bid to represent Great Britain. Whilst it’s unfortunate that Ukraine is not able to host, this is a real opportunity for Liverpool to showcase to the world its credentials as a leading European City.”
