Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) has published its latest annual Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report that highlights recent progress the company has made in relation to various corporate initiatives, along with updates regarding targets it has set itself to deliver on future commitments.
The ESG report sets out a number of corporate objectives for the airport based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which are the globally recognised action plan adopted by leading businesses and 193 world leaders.
Whilst growing passenger numbers at the same time as continuing to deliver the best passenger experience remains a key focus for the airport, maintaining its commitment to operating within a strong ESG framework also remains a priority.
This latest report shows that the airport is making good progress, continuing to work hard to meet the challenging SDG targets it has set itself, whilst recognising more still needs to be done.
Highlights include the commencement of work on the airport’s 14-acre solar farm that will start to generate 25% of the airport’s overall electricity demand, along with the launch of a Community Fund which has already helped to make a difference for 10 local good causes in communities across the region.

From raising £100,000 for our charity partner Alder Hey Children’s Charity and commencing work on our new solar farm, to working with our community neighbours on local clean up initiatives and giving young people with hidden disabilities a series of work placements, we’ve been able to make a real difference to a diverse mix of beneficiaries, whilst at the same time focusing on the environment and seeing more and more passengers choose to fly from Liverpool.”
We remain on track to meet the majority of our targets, but also recognise there is more to be done in certain areas which we will be focussing on as we go forward.”
