Manchester Foundation Trust Charity thanks Manchester business community as it celebrates 15-year Oxford Road milestone

As Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust celebrates 15 years of its Oxford Road Campus, Manchester Foundation Trust Charity sends out a message of thanks to businesses, big and small, for their support throughout this period.

As Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) celebrates 15 years of its Oxford Road Campus, Manchester Foundation Trust Charity – the organisation which raises funds for the Trust’s family of ten Greater Manchester hospitals and their associated services – today sends out a message of thanks to businesses, big and small, for their support throughout this period. The charity has also encouraged others to reach out to explore working together in the future.

It’s been 15 years since Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH), Saint Mary’s Hospital (SMH) and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital (MREH) opened new sites on Oxford Road, with 2009 also seeing an extension of Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI).

Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital is now the largest and busiest children’s hospital in the country, treating and caring for children and young people from Manchester and beyond.

Since our Charity was formed, we have raised over £62million for the Trust’s family of hospitals. This has supported world-class treatment by providing state-of-the-art equipment, enabled pioneering medical research to advance our understanding of illnesses and how best to treat them, and created welcoming, friendly environments that allow patients, and their families, to feel at ease during their time in our care.

The support of local businesses, big and small, has been crucial to these efforts and the charity would like to thank everyone that has been kind enough to show their support over the years. The charity has been lucky enough to receive support in so many ways. Fundraising has been a huge part of this, but also businesses volunteering at events, donating items in kind and helping to promote and connect our charity across the city of Manchester and beyond.

This continued support from the business community has helped towards making many projects a reality.

Brand-new cutting-edge equipment for the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Saint Mary’s Hospital, the Manchester Burns Camp initiative supporting children and young people in their rehabilitation following burn injuries, specialist Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) beds and the Trust’s lifesaving Oxford Road Campus Helipad have all been supported with the help of the local business community.

Alongside the Trust’s 15-year milestone, Manchester Foundation Trust Charity is also proud to announce it has been chosen as the charity partner for the 2024 City of Manchester Business Awards.

Rachel Laycock, Senior Corporate Manager at Manchester Foundation Trust Charity says:

“It’s been a privilege to work with so many businesses at Manchester Foundation Trust Charity over the last 15 years and we are thankful to everyone for their support. One of the joys of this job is not only seeing how this support improves people’s lives within our hospitals, but also how fundraising and volunteering can make a difference to businesses.

“Teams pull together, new friendships are formed, workplaces unite, personal bests are bested, and people realise they are capable of so much more together. There are so many benefits to be had from fundraising and volunteering for both sides and we’re lucky to have worked with so many brilliant people from the Manchester business community that have embraced these.”

Tanya Hamid, Director of Manchester Foundation Trust Charity says: “We’re extremely pleased and grateful to have been announced as the charity partner for this year’s City of Manchester Business Awards and on behalf of the charity I would like to thank Downtown in Business for making this possible. The Manchester business community has been central to the brilliant projects we’ve been able to support throughout our hospitals over the last 15 years and we’re thankful for their continued support.”
