Downtown in Business is excited to announce that Professor Steven Broomhead, Chief Executive of Warrington Borough Council, will be speaking at our upcoming Northern Power Towns event on Monday 9th September 2024.
Taking place at the esteemed Hyatt Regency Manchester, the event is set to explore the myriad opportunities for driving economic growth in the Manchester City region, with a focus on regeneration, culture, and community development within Greater Manchester.
Steven brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the discussion having served as Chief Executive of Warrington Borough Council since 2012. His extensive career in public service and economic development is complemented by his academic contributions as the Chair of Entrepreneurial Education at Liverpool Hope University.
From 2003 to 2011, Steven served as Chief Executive of the North West Development Agency (NWDA), where he spearheaded several transformative projects, including the development of MediaCityUK, the expansion of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, and the regeneration of Barrow-in-Furness.
Beyond his current role at Warrington Borough Council, Steven is deeply involved in driving economic investment and urban regeneration in Warrington. He chairs Warrington & Co, the town’s economic investment organisation, and Wire Regeneration, which focuses on revitalising specific areas of Warrington.
Steven’s interest extends into the realm of sports and social initiatives. Since 2009, he has been the Non-Executive Chairman of Warrington Wolves Rugby Super League Football Club. He is also a trustee of the National Football Museum and the Founding Chairman of “State of Mind,” a mental health awareness campaign. Additionally, he serves as Non-Executive Chairman of Recycling Lives, a charity and business focused on supporting individuals who have experienced prison or homelessness.
At the Northern Power Towns event, Stevenwill share his insights on regional development, drawing from his vast experience in both public service and economic leadership. His perspective will be invaluable in discussions on how the Manchester city region and its surrounding areas can continue to grow and thrive.
