Chief Executive of Newcastle City Council Announced for DIB’s Talkin’ Bout Regeneration Conference

Pam Smith, Chief Executive of Newcastle City Council will join DIB for our annual property, planning, and regeneration conference on the 11th September 2025.

Pam Smith joined Newcastle City Council as Chief Executive in January 2022, having previously led Stockport Council from 2017 and Burnley Council before that. Her earlier career includes roles with the Audit Commission and in the private sector. She is the Solace lead spokesperson for Economic Prosperity and a Fellow of the RSA. In April 2024, she was appointed Visiting Professor of Practice at Newcastle University’s School of Geography, Politics & Sociology.

Pam is known for her collaborative leadership and ability to build high-performing teams. She led the transformation of Burnley into a University Town and oversaw Stockport’s £1bn regeneration, including championing the Mayoral Development Corporation to accelerate growth and improve opportunities for residents.

Now in Newcastle, Pam is steering the city through a new Green Industrial Age, positioning it as a global leader in clean energy and sustainable growth. Her focus remains on tackling inequality and ensuring Newcastle is a place where people can grow up, grow older, and live their best life.

DIB will host its latest annual property, planning, and regeneration conference on the 11th September 2025. Focussing on the priority issues in the industry, including the levelling-up agenda, net zero, planning laws, housing development, high streets, infrastructure, and partnerships, the event has a range of eminent speakers from the private and public sectors.
