On Monday 13th October 2025 Downtown in Business hosted a Leader’s Lunch with Gavin White, Executive Member for Housing and Development at Manchester City Council. We explored how we can deliver the homes Manchester needs — and the crucial role that collaboration between the public and private sectors has to play in achieving that ambition.
Cllr White led a thought-provoking discussion on Manchester’s future, focusing on housing, regeneration, and growth across the city. He spoke about how Manchester continues to evolve through strategic investment and strong partnerships, ensuring that new developments contribute not only to the city’s physical landscape but also to the wellbeing of its communities.
A key highlight of the discussion was the progress of major projects such as Victoria North, one of the UK’s largest urban regeneration programmes. This transformative initiative will bring thousands of new homes, improved public spaces, and enhanced connectivity to the city — helping to meet the growing demand for quality housing while creating inclusive, sustainable neighbourhoods.
Throughout the conversation, Cllr White emphasised the importance of collaboration, long-term planning, and infrastructure investment in driving Manchester’s growth. By working together — local authorities, developers, and investors — the city can continue to build on its strengths and deliver places where people want to live, work, and thrive.
We’re proud to be part of these important conversations about Manchester’s next chapter and the collective effort required to deliver the homes and communities of the future
