Downtown in Business (DiB) today announced the addition of Martin Liptrot as its new Director of Strategic Partnerships, strengthening the organisation’s leadership team as it continues to expand its influence, membership, and national footprint.
Martin brings a distinguished international career in communications, public affairs, and business strategy. He previously served as CEO of Ogilvy PR EMEA, where he led one of the world’s most respected communications networks across more than 30 markets. During his tenure, he oversaw major global accounts, built high‑performing teams, and delivered award‑winning campaigns for leading brands, governments, and institutions.
In addition to his time at Ogilvy, he has held a series of senior leadership roles across the public and private sectors, advising C‑suite executives, political leaders, and global organisations on reputation, policy, and strategic engagement. His work has spanned Europe, the Middle East, and North America, giving him a uniquely international perspective on business growth, investment, and partnership development.
In his new role at Downtown in Business, Martin will lead the organisation’s partnership strategy, working closely with business leaders, local authorities, and key stakeholders to drive collaboration, investment, and economic development across the UK’s major cities.
Frank McKenna, Chief Executive of Downtown in Business, welcomed the appointment:
“Martin is one of the most experienced and respected strategic communicators in the industry. His global background, his leadership credentials, and his ability to connect business, politics, and place‑making make him a great addition to the DiB team. We are delighted to have him on board as we enter our next phase of growth.”
Martin said:
“I’m excited to work with the team at Downtown in Business at such a pivotal moment. With changes to local government, increased devolution and opportunities for regional investment dominating the agenda, Downtown has built a powerful network and a strong reputation for championing business-led growth. I look forward to working with the team and our partners to strengthen relationships, unlock opportunities, and support the economic ambitions of cities and regions across the UK.”
Martin will begin his role in the new year, focusing on expanding DiB’s strategic alliances and enhancing the value delivered to its growing membership base.
