Birmingham Colmore and Southside District have announced a new partnership working agreement designed to help unlock major projects across the city centre.
The two Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) say the agreement marks a significant step forward in boosting trade and economic activity, enabling them to better plan, manage and deliver city-wide initiatives that benefit Birmingham as a whole.
The announcement was made by Colmore chief executive Michele Wilby at the organisation’s rebrand launch event, held earlier today (29th January 2026) at The Exchange building. As part of this change, Colmore BID will now be known as Birmingham Colmore, following an intensive 18-month strategic brand review aimed at encouraging more joined-up working with Birmingham’s other ten BIDs.
Birmingham Colmore’s new direction places a stronger emphasis on place-making, mirroring successful models seen in cities such as Liverpool. The rebrand introduces a fresh identity that champions Birmingham’s cultural, commercial and civic heart, and reflects a commitment to moving beyond traditional boundaries to reshape partnerships that drive footfall, support economic growth and enhance quality of life.
The launch event also hosted the Birmingham Colmore Summit, a landmark gathering of cultural, commercial and civic leaders exploring bold new approaches to shaping a thriving city centre and writing the next chapter of Birmingham’s story.
